Paediatric neurology refers to a specialised branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and management of neurological conditions in neonates (newborns), infants, children, and adolescents such as;

  • Epilepsy and paroxysmal disorders: Including seizures and other abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
  • Neuromuscular disorders: Involving muscles and nerves. 
  • Cerebrovascular disease: Disorders related to blood vessels in the brain. 
  • Brain and spinal injury: Traumatic injuries affecting the nervous system.  Infections of the brain and spinal cord: Such as meningitis or encephalitis.  Brain and spinal tumours: Both benign and malignant growths. 
  • Neuroinflammatory disorders:  Conditions involving inflammation of the nervous system.
